Message from the Rector

Hello. My name is Ian Thompson and I have been Rector at St Margaret’s since September 2006.  I am married to Jane and we have four children and an increasing number of grandchildren

After re-training I became a “vicar” in 1997, as previously I worked in industry for some 20 years doing financial administration, and during that time we lived in this area including a period on Burnage Lane, our children all attended local schools and we also attended at St Margaret's for a time before I started my ordination training

My role is not just to look after the church, but is to be available to anyone living in the parish who may need someone to talk to, or who wants to know what Christianity is all about.

Leadership at St Margaret's is a joint effort.  The Curate (my deputy), is Caroline, the Wardens and Parochial Church Council (elected members) also help in the smooth running of the Church along with many other volunteers.
